FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Here is a list of frequently asked questions that our new puppy families typically ask. We take the process of adopting one of our Ruby Jewel pups very seriously
so feel free to ask any questions you may have.
There are no stupid questions!
How much are your puppies?
Our puppies are priced between $1800 & $2200 and usually depends on the litter. There are rare occasions in some litters that a puppy may be mismarked, have an overbite, or some other cosmetic issue in which we could discount the price. This would depend on the severity of this issue.
How do I reserve a Ruby Jewel Puppy?
The first step to getting on our waiting list is to contact us by email or phone to express your interest. By doing this it allows us to ask questions of each other and feel comfortable before moving forward. Once you are ready and are approved to become a future forever family for one of our pups, we will send you a puppy deposit form that you will use to send in your deposit. We do ask for a $500 deposit to reserve your pup and is your commitment to provide a forever home to your Ruby Jewel puppy.
How are Ruby Jewel puppies placed?
All litter placements are done in the order that deposits are received. Considering all of our litters are raised in the confines of our home, we get to know our pups very well. We also ask a lot of questions from you as well for a couple reasons. 1) We want to make sure, to the best of our ability, that you will provide a good home for your future family member. 2) We want to know as much about you and your lifestyle as possible. By knowing these things it helps us match each of our puppies with the family that fits them best. Please keep in mind that Ruby Jewel Labradors reserves the right to the first two picks out of every litter. We do this in order to help us improve our future breeding program.
Can we come visit our future Ruby Jewel puppy?
Unfortunately we do not allow that at this time. Considering the many germs and diseases that can be brought into our home that can be life threatening to all of our dogs, we do not offer visitation
until it is time for pick up.
How will we get to see our puppy if we are not allowed to visit?
We create a private and dedicated Facebook page for each litter that is updated with pictures and videos of each puppy for families to watch them grow. We feel like this process is a good compromise and allows each puppies new forever family the chance to get to know their new puppy before they welcome them home. You will see photos and videos, updates and milestones of the litter, and see periodic features on all pups in the litter.
How will we get our new puppy home?
Our first, and most preferred, choice is to pick up your pup in person. We understand that this is not always possible and some families choose to fly. If this is the case for you, then you will fly into the Kansas City airport where we meet you with your puppy. You will then be able to fly home with your puppy underneath your seat. Puppies can also fly solo, to most major airports in climate-controlled holds, to you where you will pick the puppy up in Cargo. We have also used the services of a puppy nanny, however this would be our least favorite option. With this option the nanny will pick up your puppy at the airport, fly with your pup under their seat, and hand deliver to you at your home airport. All costs associated with getting your puppy home is the responsibility of the buyer.
What do you wean your puppies on and what food will they come home on?
We wean and feed Pro Plan Large breed puppy food.
Will my pup be acclimated to car riding when we pick them up?
No. The only time your pup will be in the car is our trip to the vet to do their vet checks. I am very diligent about not exposing our pups to potentially dangerous germs and diseases and do not risk taking them out and about more than is necessary. Therefore, they live in a very controlled environment
until they leave us. We ask you to do the same once you get your pups home until
they are fully vaccinated. No trips to the dog park!
